Policy on the Use of Artificial Intelligence and AI-Based Technologies

The Collection adheres to current international standards regarding the use of generative artificial intelligence (AI) and related technologies in scholarly publications, including the Elsevier щодо Generative AI for journals,  the Recommendations on the Use of AI in Scholarly Communication of the European Association of Science Editors (EASE) and COPE.

Prohibition of Listing AI as a Co-Author

The editorial board does not recognise artificial intelligence systems as authors or co-authors of scholarly publications. AI tools cannot be held responsible for the content of a work, make ethical decisions or guarantee the reliability of results. Authorship is reserved exclusively for natural persons who meet the criteria of scholarly accountability.

Transparency of AI Use

If authors used AI tools and related technologies during the writing, editing or other preparation of the manuscript, they are obliged to disclose this fact in the "Methods" section. Such disclosure should include: the name and version of the tool; the purpose of use (improving linguistic style, translation, information retrieval, etc.); confirmation that the authors have verified and assume responsibility for all generated or edited content.

The use of AI for generating scholarly text, arguments or conclusions, generating or manipulating images, graphs or data without proper disclosure is PROHIBITED!

Authors bear full responsibility for the scholarly accuracy of the material (including research results, data, conclusions, references and their interpretation) regardless of whether generative AI tools were used in the preparation process. If the use of such tools has led to inaccuracies, factual errors or ethical violations, the obligation to correct them and the responsibility for the consequences rest solely with the authors.

In the event of identified violations, the editorial board reserves the right to require amendments, reject the manuscript or initiate a review in accordance with COPE procedures.

Verification of Materials

The editorial board reserves the right to use specialised tools to detect excessive or undisclosed use of AI-generated text. Detection of such signs without appropriate disclosure constitutes grounds for rejection or retraction of an already published article.

Use of AI in Peer Review

Reviewers are prohibited from entering the full text of a manuscript or substantial portions thereof into any publicly available artificial intelligence systems, as this constitutes a breach of confidentiality. Limited use of AI for linguistic correction of the reviewer’s own comments is permissible, provided the reviewer does not transmit the confidential content of the manuscript to external platforms.

The editorial team may use generative AI tools for technical and organisational tasks – in particular, for improving the language of accompanying documentation or optimising workflows. However, such tools are not used for making editorial decisions, modifying the content of submitted materials, or working with confidential information outside editorial oversight.

Policy Review

This policy is subject to regular review and updating to reflect the development of artificial intelligence and related technologies, the evolution of international standards, and the transformation of scholarly communication practices.
