Research Ethics Standards

"Collection of Scientific Works of Uman National University" recognises the primacy of ethical standards in research involving human participants or the processing of personal or confidential data. All materials submitted to the editorial board must comply with the requirements of current Ukrainian legislation, particularly in the areas of human rights protection and personal data protection, as well as international ethical guidelines.

Research involving human participants. In cases where research involves a human being as a research subject – including surveys, interviews, experimental or observational methods – authors must confirm that informed consent was obtained voluntarily, without coercion, and in a form comprehensible to the participants. The publication of personal data or materials that allow the identification of a person without their written consent is prohibited.

Research involving animals or biological materials. When animals or biological materials are used, the author must confirm that the research was conducted in accordance with current bioethics standards and received the necessary approval from the authorised committee. The publication recognises international standards for the proper treatment of laboratory animals and the principles of humane research.

Processing of personal data. The processing of personal data must comply with the requirements of the Law of Ukraine "On the Protection of Personal Data", the Law of Ukraine "On Scientific and Scientific-Technical Activity", and other legal acts governing the processing of confidential information. Personal data must be depersonalised or anonymised. Authors must describe the methods of information protection and the conditions of access thereto. In cases where the research concerns sensitive data – particularly socio-economic status, land relations, property status or production activities of specific enterprises – authors must pay particular attention to the ethical aspects of collecting, storing and using such information.

Reliability and reproducibility of results. Authors are obliged to ensure the reliability of all data, calculations and conclusions presented. The methods of data collection and processing used must be described in sufficient detail to enable the reproduction of the research by other scholars. It is recommended that primary data be retained for at least five years after publication and made available upon a substantiated request from the editorial board or members of the academic community.

In the event that violations of ethical standards are identified after publication, the editorial board may take appropriate editorial action – ranging from the publication of a correction or editorial notice to the retraction of the article. Decisions are made in accordance with COPE recommendations and the internal procedures of the Collection.
