Methodological aspects of the effectiveness of the agricultural product market

Abstract The agricultural market occupies an important place in the system of national sectoral markets. Therefore, substantiating methods for assessing its effectiveness is an important research task. The main indicator of the effectiveness of the agricultural market is its capacity, which is quantitatively expressed by the size of demand for the relevant products. Other indicators of the efficiency of the agricultural market include supply, prices, and the competitive structure of the agricultural market. As a methodological basis for substantiating target volumes of demand and supply in the agricultural market and consumer food prices, it is advisable to refer to the National Report «Sustainable Development Goals: Ukraine» in the section «Goal 2. End hunger, promote sustainable agriculture»: – Taking into account the russian-Ukrainian war, as a target benchmark for demand for agricultural products, it is advisable to focus on the planned values of indicators of access to balanced nutrition for all segments of the population for 2020; – Taking into account the russian-Ukrainian war, as a target benchmark for agricultural production, it is advisable to focus on the planned indicator of labor productivity in agriculture for 2015 and maintain a steady growth rate of agricultural production of at least 102% per year; – Given the current inflation rates caused by the russian-Ukrainian war, it is advisable to set a target benchmark for the «food price volatility» indicator at an annual increase in consumer food prices of no more than 109%; – Given the organizational characteristics of the domestic agribusiness and the number of its participants, it is advisable to use the Herfindahl-Hirschman Index to assess the level of concentration in the agricultural products market.
