Abstract The article analyzes the impact of economic crises on the functioning of the credit sector of Ukraine and changes in strategies and approaches to lending. The main trends and problems that arise in the credit market during crisis periods, such as a decrease in bank liquidity, increased credit risks, changes in supply and demand in the credit market, are revealed. It is determined that economic instability and risks associated with the war have made banks more cautious in granting loans, which has led to their reduction. Deterioration in loan portfolio quality: A marked increase in NPLs has become one of the main problems for the banking sector, as borrowers could not fulfill their obligations due to the loss of income and other negative effects of the war. The war has significantly increased credit risks for banks, as the probability of borrower default has increased significantly. The main measures to stabilize the credit market are indicated, such as increasing the volume of refinancing, in this case, the National Bank of Ukraine provided banks with additional funds to support their liquidity; increasing the provisioning standards – forced banks to increase reserves for unforeseen losses related to loans; implementation of debt restructuring programs, which allowed borrowers who found themselves in a difficult situation due to the war to improve their financial situation and repay debts, strengthening regulatory oversight in the The strategies used by banks and regulators to adapt to new conditions, such as revision of credit standards, introduction of new risk management mechanisms and stimulation of lending to enterprises, are investigated. The key challenges and opportunities provided by the crisis period for the development of the Ukrainian credit market are identified. Prospects for the development of the credit market are determined, which are expected to be after the end of the war, namely, the credit market of Ukraine will begin to recover gradually, the state will be able to play a more significant role in stimulating the economy by providing loans on preferential terms, banks will be able to develop new loan products that will meet the needs of businesses and the population in the post-war recovery.
