Abstract Combating with sugar beet root rot is of the great importance, both in terms of obtaining the high yields of sugar beet, as well as in terms of view of fighting with their weight loss during the storage. By the researches has established that the most strong influence on the prevalence of sugar beet root rot during the harvesting provides the water and temperature conditions (hydrothermal coefficient), in June and July — the correlation coefficient are 0.99 and 0.83, respectively. This demonstrates that due to the weather conditions in June and July could be predicted the spread of rot roots, which helps to correct the timeline of sugar beet harvest, to reduce losses during the storage. It was proved by the experiment that agrotechnical methods — the tillage methods — plowing or disking using mulches depending on the water and temperature conditions influence on the increasing or decreasing of the number of root rots. The organic fertilizers which are made under the previous culture don’t influence on the prevalence of sugar beet root rot. During 2009 – 2011, it averaged 28.6% against the background with manure and 28.7% against the background without manure. The use of different norms of nitrogen fertilizer (60 – 150 kg/ha a.s.) did not have the significant impact on the prevalence of rot roots.
Key words sugar beet, root rot, primary tillage, mulch, nitrogen fertilizer.
