Abstract The article examines the problems of comprehensive assessment of the efficiency of commercial banks. Under the market conditions of operation of commercial banks, increasing their efficiency is theoretically and practically justified. This circumstance, first of all, is due to the fact that banks that accumulate and redistribute significant amounts of monetary resources have a significant impact not only on the state of the national economy, but also on society as a whole, which makes it impossible to create disparities in the movement of capital and contradictions in social development . It was found that an important incentive for the further comprehensive evaluation of the performance of commercial banks is the choice of approaches for evaluating the results of their activity. Currently, the traditional approaches of comprehensive assessment of the effectiveness of commercial banks, such as process and network, do not fully reflect the real picture of the effectiveness of their activities. Based on the results of the research, a comprehensive approach to the assessment of the activities of commercial banks is proposed, which provides a more accurate and complete description of the effectiveness of the activities of commercial banks. The results of the study show that along with the traditional approaches to determining the effectiveness of commercial banks (process and network), a model of comprehensive assessment of the effectiveness of banking activity is proposed, which includes not only quantitative, but also qualitative indicators in terms of selected criteria, which make it possible to evaluate the achieved results taking into account the target content and structural features of commercial banks, their use of modern technologies, the degree of realization of their personnel, resource and adaptive potential, the quality of management and process monitoring, as well as from the point of view of the tasks solved by borrowers with the help of borrowed credit resources, their compliance with the strategic settings of the state policies, degree of implementation of current and prospective social needs.
