Abstract The dynamics of investments in the Ukrainian economy is unstable. The key reason for this trend is the unfavorable investment environment, which produces a large number of investment risks. In 2014, russian military aggression was added to them. Over the past 10 years, changes have occurred and continue to occur in the sectorial structure of capital investments. Among the types of economic activity in which the growth of capital investment is recorded: agriculture, industry, public administration and defense, health care and provision of social assistance. State administration and defense became the leader of growth. This is explained by the reaction of Ukrainian society to russian military aggression - there is an increase in funding for the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the domestic military-industrial complex. Along with the positive trend of growth in investment provision of health care, there is a negative trend of decreasing investments in national education. Such a problem has a long-term nature and will manifest itself in the further degradation of national education. This will have a negative impact on the possibilities of innovative transformations in the Ukrainian economy. After all, investments in health care and education are investments in the formation of human capital. Analysis of the structure of capital investments in the economy of Ukraine by sources of financing indicates the presence of serious problems: - an extremely low share of loans from commercial banks in financing the investment needs of subjects of the real sector of the economy; - reluctance of non-resident investors to invest in Ukrainian assets. The main reasons for the shortage of investment resources include: - mistrust of Ukrainian households in the national banking system; - galloping rate of inflation; - low level of capitalization of the Ukrainian stock exchange; - imperfect legislative support for the protection of property rights; - lack of transparency in the functioning of the judicial branch of government; - corruption at the level of municipal government; - presence of significant risks in the foreign exchange market; - the lack of transparency of the mechanism for allocating land plots; - conducting military operations on the territory of the country
